Saddle Fitting

Saddle fittingI would have to say that saddle fitting is the biggest nightmare I have ever come across!

When you get into it there are so many different backs and so many different saddles it can take forever to find the right one for your horse!

I have learned a lot about saddle fitting over the years and I still don't think anyone knows all the answers. Saddle fitting is definitely an on going study of mine. I have researched every single article, book and web site I could find, I've spoken to as many different saddlers and saddle fitters that I can, and I have looked at as many different saddles and horses backs and riders as I can!.

What I do know is that a well-fitted saddle (and saddle blanket) is so important and is usually one of the last things that people look at when dealing with their horse. So many horses are wearing saddles that don’t really fit them or the rider! No wonder they end up with sore backs.

I think everyone should learn the basics of saddle fitting and this is something that should probably be checked on a regular Harley getting the mesh measuredbasis. Horses change shapes and saddles change too.

Saddle blankets are very important too.
I do saddle fit checks with every horse that I work on and full saddle fitting assessments can be arranged if owners want to buy a new saddle or if they are having particular problems with their saddle.
With a full saddle fitting assessment I look at the horse, the saddle, and the rider as individuals. I then look at the saddle on the horse and finally the rider on the saddle on the horse.

Looking at the whole picture is the only way to do a thorough and correct saddle fit. I give an independent opinion on a saddles and blankets I will also recommend adjustments that may be able to be maSaddle fittingde to an existing saddle

I also like to show the horse owner how they can do regular checks on their saddles to look out for any problems that may arise.
